Welcome to My Blog!

Who the duck is Andy?

Hi, and welcome!

My name is Andy Banner-Price and I'm the owner of Neon Duck Ltd.

For years I've been helping and supporting other businesses in a variety of ways.

Friends often approached me to ask questions or advice, and I'd often be contacted by complete strangers too who had heard of my success and needed a steer in the right direction or needed to know what we'd done in a certain situation.

I'm a member of several industry Facebook groups where I contribute advice, I've written magazine articles, and I also offer constructive feedback to applicants for various awards judging I'm involved in.

It's been a long term goal for over ten years to offer training, and having experienced throat cancer last year, I felt the time was right to step back from my own B&B business which I run with my partner, and set up my own company which also offers consultancy.

What's your history?

I set up The 25 Boutique B&B in Torquay, Devon in the UK almost ten years ago, taking a previous guest house literally back to the brick and starting again. Before that, I purchased a failing two star hotel in North Wales, turning it into a successful five star country house hotel, wedding venue and restaurant. Prior to hospitality, I ran customer service operations for various high end car manufacturers, including training their dealership managers and dealing with the managing director's post.

Why hospitality & customer service?

Having worked in hospitality for seventeen years, and running two successful businesses, I've been involved in all aspects of the business through good times and bad including the 2009 crash, Covid and now the cost of living crisis.

I've always dealt with the general public in previoius roles and been involved in customer satisfaction since my first proper jobs at the age of 16. I've dealt with people from all walks of life including Royalty and know a thing or two about delivering world class customer service, and now speak about this across the country at various events.

Why should we take your advice?

If you're looking for hospitality or customer service training, or a consultant in these fields then you may as well employ someone who's been there and got the t-shirt - right?

Whilst running The 25 Boutique B&B, I've won every award there is to win. I was recognised by the industry time and time again, being awarded "B&B of the Year" by Visit England twice, "Unique B&B in England" with The AA and "Best B&B in the World!" two years in a row out of over a million on TripAdvisor. I stopped counting when we reached 50 awards.

Plas Dinas Country House, our first hotel was developed into a top performing hotel, also achieving multiple awards. I have also personally also been awarded "Tourism Business Leader" from Devon Tourism, "Sole Trader of the Year" from the FSB and the "Tourism Innovation Award" at the English Riviera Tourism Awards.

Being a control freak and having OCD traits, I've been directly involved in all aspects of my businesses. Whether it be cost control and pricing, designing websites, marketing, social media posts, decorating, designing, chefing or cleaning, I've done it all. I can therefore help in all aspects of your business. Even if you have a business not related to hospitality at all, I can help improve your customer service offering and look at general marketing, display, social media and so on.

What do you offer?

I offer a range of services from tailor made training courses to individual coaching and consultancy sessions. I aim to help bolster your bottom line, looking at ways to improve your profit and your service. Increasing your direct bookings and reducing your reliance on third party booking websites (OTAs) is an example of how I can save you money.

There are also a host of other things I offer including road testing new properties, mystery shopping for restaurants and accommodation providers, assisting in applying for awards, improving your TripAdvisor ranking and reputation, coaching for TV appearances such as "Four in a Bed" and after dinner speaking.

What's the next step?

I look forward to speaking with you.
